Southern Cross Laser & Sheet Metal is a proudly family-owned and operated business now in its second generation — and with over 35 years of industry experience behind us, we bring both heritage and innovation to everything we fabricate.
History
Our Story
Our roots go back to Southern Cross Stainless Steel, founded in Sydney by Gary Sydenham, Sid Saad, Russell Mann, and Brian Stacy. What started as a small factory operation grew steadily over the decades into a trusted name in stainless steel fabrication.
Five years after the company was founded, Gary’s son Bruce joined as an apprentice on the factory floor. As Bruce honed his craft, the business evolved with him. Over time, original partners transitioned out, but Gary stayed — and with Bruce’s skills growing, so did the vision for the future. Succession planning began in earnest, with Bruce stepping up to lead the business as Gary moved toward retirement.
Recognising the shift in the sheet metal industry, Bruce saw the opportunity to expand the company’s capabilities by adding laser cutting to its services — and Southern Cross Laser & Sheet Metal was born. Importantly, the entire experienced team came along for the journey.

The Team
What sets us apart is the people. Gary continues in a mentoring role, bringing decades of wisdom to the team. Anthony has managed the factory for over 10 years. Sid has overseen site installations for 35 years. And Bruce leads the business day to day — supported by a dedicated office team and factory crew whose collective years of service speak for themselves.

We specialise in the fabrication of stainless steel products, working with both sheet and tubular material. Our services include the manufacture of standard and specialty items, as well as custom fabrications to architectural specifications and precision laser cutting.
